The meaning of skid lid is as follows: crash helmet. This is a helmet that is worn by people that ride either motorcycles or bicycles. There is padding built in on these helmets to give true safety to the head. As far as what the makers of helmets call s a skid lid though they are found in the shorty group of helmets.

So many of the motorcycle riders suffer from the delusion that they do not need to wear a helmet. But with what happens in a crash and could happen to your head it is real stupid not to wear a helmet. We have only been given one head and it is not replaceable so we better take good care of that. The main problem with this was that the pith would not keep its shape in a crash. These were one-time crash helmets and then you had to replace them. The bicyclists only had one concern in a crash namely how hard the road was rather than an oncoming vehicle such as a car. It's sure a good thing fiberglass has been invented and is used for some of the helmets these days.

Some say it is feeling one with their surroundings some say it is just a great way to relax and feel free. Many bikers join groups for the company of riding with others. Sometimes these groups work together on charitable drives. Then you always have the brand name clubs that like to travel together.

The amount of money that you are used to paying for a car is much higher than what you pay for a motorcycle. A fill up on necessary gasoline is a fraction of the cost for a motorcycle too. Most cars get terrible mileage compared to cycles. The dollars that you will spend on maintaining a motorcycle sometimes add up too quickly.

What in the world is motocross you ask? It is actually a speed sport for motorcyclists. This is not done on pavement though it is done on courses made either of dirt or artificial material. Sometimes they even have ramps to do stunts too. Riders can actually flip a bike off these ramps. A skid lid or helmet is imperative for this sport.

Authorities always suggest and sometimes require a helmet being worn. Check your local laws as far if it is required. Safety wise you are always much more safeguarded with a helmet than without one. Now these helmets or skid lid whichever you like to name them come in all shapes, models, and even colors and other features. Whichever you choose to wear put on your helmet and get on that motorcycle and have safe fun riding your favorite motorcycle.
