Get the Hair You've Always Wanted With Hair Extensions!
Have you ever wanted your hair to be longer, fuller and thicker? Have you tried every shampoo and conditioner on the market, yet your hair still looks the same? If so, hair extensions are a great option for you! The technology behind hair extensions has improved over the years, offering women more choices than ever before. There are now a variety of tools and chemicals available, different methods of attaching the extension hair, and many more style possibilities.
Even though extensions can be attached in many different ways, they are grouped into three basic categories: clip-in, bonded or sewn weft, and strand-by-strand. The first method, clip-in, is by far the easier one of the three because the extension hair is applied to a clip. This clip can be removed and added to the hair anytime the client wishes. Since these extensions are removable and are unaffected by hair growth, they will last the longest out of all the systems.
The second type of extension is called a ''weft extension''. The term weft refers to a form of the extension hair which is attached at one end and free-flowing at the other, resulting in a curtain-like look. These extensions are applied either by gluing or sewing, one weft at a time.
The last and most time-consuming method for doing extensions is called ''strand-by-strand''. This name comes from the fact that the hair is applied in small sections consisting of fifty to several hundred individual strands. These small sections are attached using glues or polymers, clamping devices, or heat fusing methods. Even though they take longer to complete, strand-by-strand extensions are often less noticeable than other methods.
When it comes to strand-by-strand extensions, they can be added with an adhesive substance or with the aid of a clamping device, such as a micro link. Both of these methods should be taken into consideration. While using an adhesive substance can make the extensions appear more natural, the clamping devices are obviously much healthier for your hair.
Here are some hair extension tips to keep in mind:
* There are close to 100 different names for extensions. They may refer to the type of hair used, the process used to attach the extensions, or the materials used during the process. If you're not sure which type of extensions is right for you, just ask your salon professional.
* Check with your stylist to find out the best maintenance and care regime for the particular type of extensions you choose. Since extensions can cause breakage and damage to your natural hair, they must be maintained properly.
* Human hair extensions work best if you're going for a natural look, since they most closely match the texture and color of your existing hair. If you want extensions that make a statement, like those that are vibrant red, blue, green or orange, you're better off with synthetic hair. That's because synthetic hair offers many more color options to choose from.
* Many people don't realize how heavy extensions can be. Make sure to talk with your salon professional about what you can expect from the added weight of your new extensions.
* If you're using an adhesive to attach the hair, it's important to keep in mind that certain glues have been known to cause allergic reactions on some skin types. Ask your stylist for more information about the particular type of glue they plan to use for your extensions.
