Who Is Kevin Leman?

With the divorce rate being as high as it is in the United States, there are still plenty of people out there trying to help couples stay together through the good times and the bad. Many couples who actually make it past five years can count themselves lucky and anyone who speaks with a counsellor when troubles arise stands a better chance of making through. One of those successful counsellors is Dr. Kevin Leman, an internationally known psychologist, media personality, motivational speaker and author of twenty-five published books whose topics range from child-rearing, healthy sex lives, and marriage.

Holding a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate in clinical psychology, Kevin Leman was one of the first to popularize concepts initially discovered and researched by Dr. Alfred Adler, a renown psychologist and contemporary of Dr. Sigmund Freud. Adler is most famous for the inferiority complex concept that discusses self-esteem and how it can be impacted. The theories behind Adler’s research are based on family dynamics and where people end up in life based on the order in which they were born. Leman uses these theories in the many seminars and lectures that he gives around the world.

He is the founder and president of MatchWise.com, a Christian dating service that is online and also based on his research regarding birth order. The site, which was designed for Christians in America, offers people of the faith a chance to meet others in a safe environment where scammers, foreigners, sleaze, garbage and surprises are not tolerated. Compatibility questions are based on the family birth-order theory. Leman also founded and is the president of “Couples of Promise”. This organization is committed to helping people stay married and members of the organization participate in a cruise once a year.

Leman is very down to earth and his seminars are considered not only educational, but also entertaining as he uses his wit to teach people some common sense psychology. He has been featured on television shows such as Oprah, CBS’s The Early Show, Today, The View, and has acted as the consulting family psychologist to the ever popular Good Morning America.

He is also the host of the RealityTalks television show that is shown on FamilyNet affiliated stations, i-LifeTV, and the NRB network. Working with Dr. Jay Passavant, a pastor and family counsellor, they tackle everyday relationship and family issues. Some of their recent episodes have covered topics such as learning how to trust, women in abusive relationships, cheating, talking to your children, and intimacy.

Dr. Leman’s work has been recognized around the world and he was honoured with the Alumni Achievement Award from the University of Arizona, the highest award the institution gives. Originally from Williamsville, New York, he is happily married and lives in Tucson with his wife and is the proud father of five children.
