Golden retrievers have similar personalities as the Labrador retrievers. This breed is docile in nature, they are good-hearted, mild mannered, and they love being around people. Just like the Labrador retriever, this breed is great with the disabled and the aged. They're as well extremely amiable in terms of their relationship with other pets. Golden retrievers are extremely intelligent, which makes them easy to discipline. This breed is perfect for a child who enjoys the outdoors because they love playing fetch. Grooming is needed for this breed because it has long hair.<br /><br />Another dog that the potential owner might want to consider, especially if the Labrador retriever and the Golden retriever are too large in size for what they are looking for, is the Beagle. The Beagle is a smaller dog, that is great with children and they can be a lot of fun to be around. Beagles are submissive and not aggressive, but they are good watch dogs because of their wailing bark. If left alone they tend to get bored and will howl. Because they are very playful and because of their small size they are great for smaller children.<br /><br />In choosing dogs good with children, remember that not all dogs are alike and you have to be very cautious with having unknown dogs around your child. This is why some breeds are labeled are child friendly because these are proven dogs that will do no harm to your children.
