Vacation Safety Tips.
You can almost guarantee that if there is going to be a problem it will be when you are on vacation in an unfamiliar place but by following a few simple rules, the consequences can be minimized. The trouble is when this happens it leaves you with bad memories of what should be a happy vacation. Other circumstances could mean that you will have to take time out form your vacation to have the Police deal with your complaints.
It is easy to drop your guard when you are on vacation and enjoying yourself but this is when you are most vulnerable so traveling safely relies on your common sense to guide you. Trust your instincts if something doesn't feel right, do something about it.
A big mistake made by a lot of holidaymakers is they take everything of value with them which makes it very comfortable for snitches and pickpockets to steal their whole identity in one go. You know that when you go out for the day or evening there are only certain things you need, so just take those and leave the rest behind in the safe or security deposit box.
One easy thing to do to protect your money is not carry all of it around at once or leave it in just one location where a thief can steal everything you have quite easily. Many couples traveling will have 2 credit cards, both accessing the same account but it is much easier to use two cards, each accessing separate accounts so if one is lost or stolen, there is a backup.
Some people just make it easy for snatch thieves who specialize in grabbing bags and cameras for unsuspecting tourists who have them hanging from their shoulder so to prevent this make sure the strap is over the head as well. If you are the person carrying the camera or bag, then walk away from the edge of the road where it is easy for motorcycle thieves to grab something and make a quick getaway.
Criminals love tourists as they are usually considered easy prey and we all underestimate how very proficient they are at relieving people of their personal belongings. It is often our arrogance that lets us become victims of theft and other deceptions because we do not believe that anyone will pull the wool over our eyes but this is how the criminals earn their living.
One way to stop some of the pick pocketing is to place a padlock on you backpack as any delay means they will usually try on someone else. To prevent you losing your keys, trying using a small D-Shackle, like they use in rock climbing and while it doesn't lock it acts as a deterrent for unwanted hands getting into your bag.
Both men and women lose their wallets and purses because men have wallets in their back pockets and women have their open handbags; so the easiest thing is for men to change the place they keep their wallet and for women to make sure their handbag is closed properly.
There is absolutely no reason why when you are on vacation you shouldn't be able to travel safely and have a great deal of worry free fun; just stick to the points mentioned here and use your common sense at all times.
